Description of the dwarf apple tree variety "Prizemlennye"
Description and history
This dwarf apple tree was bred at the South Ural Scientific Institute. One of its parents is the weeping apple tree "Vydubetskaya," a complex hybrid. It is most widespread in the Ural region.
The tree itself is very small. The crown is usually rounded, regular, and requires no pruning. The apple tree grows up to 2 meters tall, making it very convenient for gardeners.
One of the characteristics of the variety is that its branches extend horizontally, but this is completely natural. The ends of the branches always point upward. These apple trees bear fruit on all types of wood, even on last year's growth. Harvesting begins in the fall.
Main characteristics
The shoots of the trees are greenish in color and medium in size. The leaves are usually oval or boat-shaped, sometimes slightly drooping, and are large and fleshy.
The description confirms that the fruits of this variety can be obtained from last year's growth. The apples are slightly smaller than average, round, with a sweet-tart, firm, fine-grained flesh. They are always juicy and have excellent flavor. The skin is smooth, shiny, yellow with a red blush throughout most of the fruit. The stalk is medium-sized.
The fruit can be stored for up to 60 days; apples can stay fresh in cool places and with proper care. This variety can be eaten fresh, as it has a delicious flavor, and used to make all kinds of juices, jams, and preserves.
Care Features
This apple variety requires additional pollination, as confirmed by the description. Possible pollinators for this species include the Bratchud and Osennee Narrow-growing apple trees, as well as the Chudnoe and Kovrovoe varieties.
Because the tree is low-growing, it often requires additional support, especially before the fruiting season. Apples can be harvested approximately two or three years after planting, and fruit appears regularly, every fall. A single tree can yield up to 130 kg of apples per season.
During periods of epiphytotics, the variety is susceptible to scab, requiring additional care. However, it is winter-hardy and tolerates cold well. Furthermore, its short growing season and rapid fruiting are undeniable advantages, making it very convenient.
If you're looking for a small tree to decorate your garden with, producing small and tasty fruit, then the "Prizemlennaya" variety is perfect for this purpose. It's also ideal for breeding other dwarf apple varieties.
