Purpose and instructions for use of the fungicide "Quadris" for grapes
Content
Description and mechanism of action
This product is a strobilurin, which is characterized by a long-lasting effect and effective results. Quadris is suitable for use in vineyards. It is used not only for the protection and treatment of fungal diseases but also for preventative purposes. It has a destructive effect on fungal spores and stimulates and improves the growth of grapevines.
Regarding its mechanism of action, the active ingredient is capable of killing virtually any fungal disease. Azoxystrobin is present in this product at a concentration of 250 g/L. When the product is applied to the affected areas of the bush, the active ingredients block the air supply to these areas. This blocks the air supply to infectious spores. As a result, they stop reproducing and die. It acts quickly—complete destruction of spores occurs within an hour.
Despite its effective and rapid action, there are limitations to the use of this fungicide. It should only be applied to grapes in the morning or evening, when the vines are not exposed to direct sunlight. Otherwise, the product will evaporate quickly, preventing it from having the desired effect.
Considering the mechanism of action, it is worth noting that treatment cannot be carried out during rain. If precipitation occurs after treatment, repeat treatment will be necessary. Under these conditions, the product will provide results for 14–21 days.
Experts recommend using Quadris in conjunction with other systemic treatments. This will significantly enhance its effectiveness. The optimal solution is to combine treatment with products such as Actellic, Aktara, or Karate. The only exception is herbicides—this fungicide cannot be combined with them. This is due to different application times.
Instructions for use
Quadris is used for grape bushes in various ways, depending on the intended purpose. To combat mildew and oidium, prepare a 6% solution. Apply 1,000 liters per hectare.
During the growing season, the vines should be treated four times. The first time, spray before flowering. The second time, after flowering. A second treatment will also be necessary during berry formation and immediately before they begin to ripen.
To eliminate the plant disease and prevent its recurrence, repeat spraying a week or two after flowering. After the final treatment, wait at least 25 days. Only after this time can the berries be eaten.
Precautionary measures
It's important to note that this compound is not lethal to living organisms. However, it is still toxic. Therefore, certain precautions must be taken to avoid any adverse effects. If a small amount of this fungicide is ingested, headache, dizziness, and nausea may occur. In this case, gastric lavage should be performed as soon as possible.
When spraying, use protective gloves. Wear appropriate protective clothing. Keep the solution away from pets.
Proper storage conditions are equally important. The storage temperature should be between -5°C and +35°C. Keep away from food and any liquids. Quadris retains its antifungal properties for three years if stored properly.
Pros and cons
One of its main advantages is its innovative mechanism of action, which is more effective than many similar products. It is also completely safe for vines, which is also important. Another advantage is its rapid action, ensuring long-lasting results. It is easy to use. It can spread pathogen spores, enhancing grape growth and increasing yield.
The only drawback worth noting is the product's toxicity. However, with proper solution preparation and adherence to all safety precautions, the negative effects of this fungicide can be avoided.
