In the fall, experts recommend applying phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. After adding fertilizer to the soil, the area should be dug over to ensure the fertilizer penetrates thoroughly. In the spring, nitrogen-containing fertilizers should be used. Therefore, preparing the tomato plot should be split into two parts:

Planting seeds

Like other tomato varieties, Spasskaya Tower is grown from seedlings. Therefore, the health and vigor of your seedlings will determine your future harvest. This stage of seedling germination requires special attention.

Experts recommend starting seeds approximately 2-2.5 months before planting in a greenhouse or open ground. Therefore, seedlings are often grown from early March until early the following month, April. The mature seedlings are planted in the ground around May or June. This way, the first harvest can be harvested as early as July. This hybrid typically continues to bear fruit until August.

Before planting, the seed material must be prepared. To do this, use the following procedure:

• First, the seeds are soaked in a specially prepared solution. This is prepared by dissolving one teaspoon of liquid fertilizer (Agricola-Vegeta, Effecton, or Nitrophoska) in one liter of water. A less expensive option is to use wood ash instead of fertilizer.
• Next, the seeds are placed in bags made of natural fabric. Regular gauze can be used. They are then kept in a solution at 25 degrees Celsius for 24 hours.
• Then the seeds are placed in the refrigerator for two days. Before placing them on a shelf, the swollen seeds in the gauze should be wrapped in cellophane.

After these steps, the seeds will harden. Therefore, this procedure is essential when planting seedlings in open ground.

When preparing the seeds, you need to prepare the soil mixture yourself. To do this, use equal parts humus, soil, and peat. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly, and add one teaspoon of urea, superphosphate, and potassium sulfate to the resulting mixture. Then, heat the resulting soil mixture at 100-115 degrees Celsius (for example, in an oven) for 20 minutes.

Next, pour the prepared soil onto a baking sheet. The soil layer should be approximately 5 cm thick. Before planting, transfer the soil to the trays and water thoroughly.

Plant seeds in furrows 1 cm deep. The distance between adjacent rows should be at least 5 cm. Maintain a distance of approximately 2 cm between seedlings. Cover them with soil. No need to water the planted seeds.

The container with the future seedlings should be placed on a sunny windowsill. The room temperature should be 20-25 degrees Celsius.

Planting in soil and care

After 2-2.5 months, the strengthened seedlings should be transplanted to their permanent growing location. Before planting, spray the young plants with copper oxychloride (30 grams per 10 liters of water).

The seedlings should be placed in holes (15 x 15 cm, one spade deep). Fertilizer should be placed at the bottom of the holes. It's best to stagger the holes.

How to fertilize

It is recommended to feed Spasskaya Tower three times per season:

• the first time - 2 weeks after planting the seedlings (1 kg of bird droppings per 10 liters of water);
• the second time - when the second brush has blossomed. Here, manure or bird droppings are used;
• The third time – during the first harvest. The fertilizer composition is similar to the second feeding.
