Tomato "White filling": description and cultivation features
Content
Description of the variety
The White Naliv tomato variety, whose characteristics and description define it as a determinate cultivar, does not grow beyond its maximum height. The bush is not standard. The stem is strong and upright. In a greenhouse, the plant can reach a height of 0.7 meters; in open ground, the bush does not exceed half a meter. The plant has few leaves, but its root system is robust, capable of reaching up to half a meter in all directions. The leaves have a typical "tomato" appearance and are green.
The bush produces simple, intermediate-sized inflorescences. The first flower appears after the sixth leaf, with the remaining flowers appearing at intervals of one or two leaves. The fruits hold well on the stem, and the possibility of spontaneous falling off is excluded.
The White Filling tomato variety is considered early-ripening. The first fruits can be harvested within three months of the seedlings appearing. In unprotected soil, this period may be slightly longer.
The plant is fairly resistant to most diseases. It is virtually immune to late blight due to the rapid ripening of its fruit. The crop is also immune to macrosporiosis.
Usually the vegetable is grown in open ground, less often in greenhouse conditions.
Video "Variety Review"
From this video you will learn many new facts about the "White Filling" tomato variety.
Advantages, disadvantages and features
A unique feature of this tomato variety is that its shortcomings were discovered after the development of new varieties. Compared to more modern hybrids, the White Filling has average yields and is not particularly resistant to a number of diseases.
At the same time, some of the plant's advantages haven't been lost even in the face of more modern crops. In particular, the fruits ripen quickly and uniformly, and they have an excellent flavor. Furthermore, the plant easily tolerates adverse weather conditions and requires little care.
A characteristic feature of this tomato variety is its resistance to fruit cracking on the vine. The plants even tolerate heat well.
Productivity
Before the advent of modern tomato hybrids, White Naliv tomatoes were a productive crop. A single bush can yield between 3 and 8 kilograms of fruit. The vegetables ripen almost simultaneously.
Fruit properties
The tomatoes are round, slightly flattened at the poles. The diameter of the fruit is 0.07 meters, and it weighs approximately 100 grams. The skin is smooth, matte, and thin. When unripe, the tomatoes are pale green; with age, they lighten even more, resembling the apple of the same name.
Ripe fruits are red. They are very juicy and fleshy. The seeds are arranged in chambers of 4 to 12 seeds. The harvest can be stored for a long time, especially since they travel well.
Directions for use
Because the White Naliv 241 tomato has an exceptionally pleasant flavor and a rich aroma, it is eaten fresh. Although the variety was originally bred for processing, it is used in fresh salads, sliced, and added to various dishes.
Most of the plant's beneficial properties are retained even when cooked. While these vegetables are low in calories, they are still quite satisfying. Tomatoes are ideal for making sauces or ketchup. However, the juice from these fruits will be too thick.
Vegetables of this variety store well when frozen. Tomatoes can also be canned without cracking.
Growing recommendations
This variety of tomato is successfully grown by gardeners in Ukraine, Russia, and other neighboring countries. Kazakhstan and its surrounding areas are considered the most successful areas.
Before planting, soak the seeds in a potassium permanganate solution for several hours and then rinse them under running water. You can also treat them with a growth-promoting agent.
At the end of March, the seeds are planted in the warm soil of a large container, watered and covered.
Once the first young shoots appear, remove the container's covering and water the seedlings only as needed. Once the young plants have developed a pair of leaves, they should be transplanted into individual containers.
When planting in unprotected soil, seedlings are placed in holes in cups. This will protect the plants from stress and damage. When germinating young seedlings, they need to be fertilized with minerals several times per season.
Water thoroughly but infrequently. Loosen the soil and weed only as needed. Apply minerals every six weeks. This variety does not require pinching or staking.
Diseases and pests
A characteristic feature of the crop is its resistance to a number of diseases and pest attacks. Most pathogens are killed by disinfecting the soil and seed.
Most diseases that may still affect your plants are treated with medications available in specialist stores. These same chemicals can also be sprayed on plants for prevention several times a season.
So, White Naliv is a cultured tomato that produces medium-sized fruits with excellent flavor. Growing this vegetable requires considerable investment.
