Description of one of the most delicious tomato varieties – ‘Stolypin’
Content
Description of the variety
The Stolypin tomato is an early-ripening variety. The plant itself is determinate, producing slightly sweet, juicy fruits rich in beneficial vitamins. It is suitable for growing outdoors or under plastic. Because these tomatoes are early-ripening, it typically takes 90-100 days from seeding to full maturity.
This tomato variety is not a hybrid; its bushes grow no more than 60 cm tall and are not standard. The leaves are medium-sized and dark green.
It's important to note that this variety boasts a very high resistance to the dangerous and widespread disease late blight. This is one of the main advantages of this tomato variety, as the plants are disease-resistant, minimizing the risk of crop loss.
Stolypin tomatoes are also characterized by simple inflorescences and jointed stems. Regarding tomato yield, it is estimated that when grown under plastic covers, one square meter of the city can yield 8 to 10 kilograms of tomatoes.

Advantages and disadvantages
Stolypin has earned the title of the most optimal tomato variety for canning. The fruits are not only delicious but also firm and do not spread. The seedlings themselves are resistant to disease and cold, making it possible to reap a bountiful harvest in our climate.
The main advantages of the variety are as follows:
- resistance to late blight, a disease that affects most tomato varieties;
- taste qualities – the fruits are tasty, fleshy, with a strong skin;
- cold resistance;
- resistance to cracking.
Oddly enough, there's no information about any significant drawbacks of the Stolypin variety. Most gardeners who grow this variety don't complain about any serious drawbacks or negative qualities; on the contrary, forums and gardening communities publish exclusively positive reviews.
Fruit characteristics
When discussing the fruits of the Stolypin variety, it's best to characterize them by their positive differences from those of other varieties. Distinguishing features of this variety include the following qualities:
- fruit shape – elliptical or oval;
- weight – 90-120 grams per piece;
- the surface of the fruit (peel) is dense and very smooth; when unripe it is light green, when ripe it is a delicate red color;
- tomatoes develop two or three nests, which have an average level of dry matter content;
- The fruits are juicy, sweetish in taste, and emit a pleasant, appetizing aroma.
In addition, gardeners note that there are practically no seeds inside the tomatoes, mostly pulp, making them ideal for both creating vegetable salads and for storing.
Features of cultivation
Stolypin tomatoes can be grown throughout our country, but light, highly fertile soil is best. It is recommended to sow the seeds for seedlings in late March or early April. The seeds should be planted two or three centimeters deep in the soil, after thoroughly rinsing them with clean water and treating them with a potassium permanganate solution.
As soon as the first true leaves emerge on the seedlings, they need to be pricked out. It's also advisable to feed the plants with complex fertilizer several times throughout their development, and to harden them off a little a week before planting.
Seedlings can be planted in the ground when they are 60-70 days old, and this should be done only when there is no longer a risk of cold weather. For example, in non-chernozem zones, these tomatoes should be planted between June 5 and 10. If the seedlings are grown under plastic cover, they can be planted as early as mid-May.
As for the planting pattern itself, it's important to maintain a minimum distance of 70 cm between plants, and a minimum of 30 cm between rows. The main care measures are regular watering and complex fertilizers. Tomatoes also need to be trained and tied.
Diseases and pests
As mentioned many times, Stolypin tomatoes are highly resistant to diseases and pests, especially the nasty late blight. However, even these plants can become infected or suffer from insect infestations if not properly cared for. In such cases, it's necessary to use specialized treatments or resort to traditional remedies.
Stolypin tomatoes are considered one of the tastiest varieties of this vegetable crop. They are suitable for eating raw and canning, and they are easy and enjoyable to grow.
