Universal tomato "Banana": description of the variety
Content
Description of the variety
The Red Banana tomato, the most common variety, has several other bred relatives—the "banana" tomato can be pink or orange. All of these varieties are easy to grow and maintain.
The variety's description is as follows: an early-ripening crop, bearing fruit as early as 95 days after germination. The plant typically forms a low bush, but under certain growing conditions, each tomato can reach over 1 m in height. Each cluster produces approximately 10 large fruits.
Plants of this variety are resistant to high temperatures, can easily tolerate short periods of drought, and are also not afraid of low temperatures. The plants have a pronounced immunity to late blight, which is a joy for every gardener familiar with this problem.

Advantages and disadvantages
The Orange Banana tomato, as well as its red variety, has a high germination rate; gardeners note the germination of all planted seeds.
The seedlings transplant well and require no additional staking or pinching (the bush is low-growing). This variety is characterized by a uniform blooming; the entire bush blooms at once, simply covered in flowers.
Typically, you will harvest about 40 fruits from one plant, each varying slightly in shape and size.
But there are challenges associated with growing these tomatoes: the taste of the fresh vegetable doesn't receive rave reviews, with many noting the fruit's blandness or dryness. However, when pickled or marinated, these tomatoes are beyond praise.
Description of fruits
The fruits of the Banana variety are uniformly colored bright red and have an oval shape, vaguely reminiscent of a plum.
Medium-sized tomatoes, each weighing between 60 and 100 grams, are easy to transport over long distances, retain their marketable appearance, and do not spoil or crack.
The elongated shape of the fruits makes them indispensable for canning – neat tomatoes fit even in a small jar.
Care
To enjoy a harvest of banana tomatoes, simply follow these simple gardening guidelines:
- Water tomatoes only after the soil has completely dried out. It's best to do this in the evening or morning hours, when the sun can burn the leaves.
- Feed tomato bushes with complex fertilizer twice a month;
- remove weeds in a timely manner, while simultaneously loosening the soil to improve air access to plant roots;
- From time to time, carry out preventive measures aimed at combating possible fungal infections.

These are all the simple manipulations and techniques that will allow the Banana variety to give you a rich harvest of delicious tomatoes. By storing them for future use, you'll enjoy their excellent taste all winter long, and you'll definitely want to grow them again.
