Siberian Garland cucumbers: characteristics of the variety
Content
Main characteristics
Siberian Garland cucumbers are very unusual in appearance. A single stem bears numerous small, crisp, sweet cucumbers. Their arrangement resembles a bunch of grapes. The hybrid's properties and characteristics make it ideal for pickling and preserving.
The variety description describes the crop as self-pollinating. The fruits are no more than 8 centimeters long. The plant is undemanding in terms of growing conditions. Planted in the spring, the first harvest can be harvested as early as summer.
Tasty, high-quality fruits can only be obtained through proper care during the active growth and development of the crop. It's crucial to promptly remove weeds from the beds and loosen the soil. It's also essential to protect the seedlings from wind. Cow manure is an effective fertilizer for this variety. Ripe fruits should be harvested regularly to encourage new ones to form in their place.
It takes only about 45 days from planting the seedlings to the appearance of the first ripe fruits. Sometimes, the cucumber branch with the ovaries on it resembles a Christmas tree.
Be prepared for a bountiful harvest. On average, about 18 kilograms of fruit grows per unit area. Garland cucumbers form in quantities of 30 to 40 on a stem.
This artificially created vegetable shares several positive characteristics with other varieties popular among gardeners and homesteaders. Specifically, it allows for the cultivation of large quantities of fruit at once, as well as unusual vegetable sizes.
Forming the fruits under the right conditions allows you to get an incredible cucumber aroma and their crispy, delicious vegetable flesh.
It's also worth noting that another important characteristic of the variety is its rapid ripening. The appearance of the fruits is also important: they are all uniform and have the same shape.

In this video, an experienced gardener will tell you how to get a good harvest of everyone's favorite cucumbers.
Advantages and disadvantages
The Siberian Garland cucumber variety was artificially created by breeders. Therefore, neither the breeders nor gardeners have identified any shortcomings. However, the hybrid has many advantages:
- Self-pollination: the crop can be harvested even without pollinators.
- Resistance to temperature drop;
- Virtually disease-free;
- The fruits ripen quickly;
- Excellent appearance and taste characteristics;
- Possibility of using fruits for different purposes;
- Excellent for growing in a variety of conditions;
- Irregular harvesting does not harm the crop.
Landing rules
There are several ways to grow this cucumber variety. For example, you can sow the seeds directly into open soil (but only if it's well-warmed) or grow the seedlings on a windowsill first. Siberian Garland was created by crossing two popular varieties. As a result, the vegetables grow quickly, require little care, and produce an excellent harvest.
High-quality seedlings can only be obtained by sowing seeds in fertile, thoroughly fertilized soil (or a ready-made mixture). Maintain an ambient temperature of at least 25°C. Typically, the seedling growing period is slightly longer than three weeks. Seedlings are transplanted to their permanent location in the spring, after the last frost. When grown in greenhouses or hotbeds, all growing periods are extended by 14 days.
When sowing seeds directly into the ground, first check how warm it is. Sowing should only be done in soil temperatures of 14°-15°C. In temperate climates, this typically occurs in late May.
The seeds should be planted about 2 centimeters deep in the soil. Cover the seedlings with plastic wrap or cellophane and remove the covering only after the first sprouts have formed. When transplanting and sowing, maintain a distance of 0.15 meters between plants and 0.6 meters between rows.
Care Features
Before and after planting, the soil must be adequately moistened. Adequate water will ensure the seedlings acclimate more quickly to their new location. The main steps involved in caring for the crop include:
- Regular watering of the beds, as cucumbers of this variety are extremely dependent on moisture;
- The soil should be moistened only with warm water. Otherwise, the plant roots may simply rot;
- Fertilize the plant twice a month. Manure or complex fertilizers can be used as top dressing;
- Regularly remove weeds from and between beds and loosen the soil. This will ensure adequate oxygen supply to the underground parts of the plant, particularly the roots.
- Mulching must be carried out to retain moisture on the surface of the soil and slow down the development of weeds;
- It is better to grow the crop using a trellis method, which will simplify its care and the collection of ripe fruits;
- You can protect cucumber bushes from diseases and parasites by spraying the leaves with special infusions;
- If you fail to protect cucumbers from diseases and parasites, you need to use special chemicals;
- This hybrid should be trained into a single stem, with any remaining side shoots pruned. This will significantly improve the quality and quantity of the harvest, as well as accelerate the growth of the plant itself.
By following all agricultural recommendations, you can easily harvest up to 30 kilograms per unit area. The vegetables are not bitter, have a pleasant taste and aroma, and never outgrow their original size.
So, Siberian Garland is a popular cucumber hybrid today. The plant has virtually no drawbacks, which is why gardeners are growing it more and more often today. It can be planted both outdoors and in a greenhouse or hotbed. The ripe fruits are easy to use for a variety of purposes: fresh eating, pickling or preserving, or as an ingredient in various salads. Siberian Garland will also decorate your garden, as the fruits grow like a bunch of grapes, sometimes resembling a fir tree branch.
